HEADLINE:
Republicans are flooding this red state with cash over panic state may flip on Trump: report"

This is Arizona they are talking about where Democrat Mark Kelly leads Republican Martha McSally by 2.6 points. The state has been heavily for the GOP since I moved here 25 years ago, but appears to be turning at least purple, perhaps, fully blue. Also hopes that the Progressives here will help defeat Donald Trump in November.   READ MORE...

Will Donald Trump make 2020 grisliest election ever?

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2019 NEWS BYTES

A less than pretty 2020 election ahead?

This what you want in 2020, folks?
Remember what Moscow Mitch said about Barack Obama's second term? His comment was that he would do everything to make him a one-term president. It didn't work and Obama won handily. In 2016 Donald Trump got down and dirty as only he could, he won, and it isn't likely he could stand losing in 2020. As a matter of fact, he is again talking about a third term, which probably sent his double-digit supporters into the streets.

Can anyone even imagine a second term with the Oval Office lunatic, much less a third? Alex Henderson in AlterNet says...
"As ugly as the presidential election of 2016 was, 2020 is likely to be even uglier. President Donald Trump does not want to go down in history as a one-term president, and a key part of his reelection strategy is trying to fire up his base as much as possible..."
Those are the double-digits, above, I was talking about. This is how he pumps up these pathetics...
"Trump tells four Democratic congresswomen of color they should leave the United States (Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Ayanna Pressley and Rep. Rashida Tlaib), attacks the predominantly black city of Baltimore as a 'disgusting, rat- and rodent-infested mess' or claims that Jews who vote for Democrats are being 'disloyal' to Israel."
Trump significantly behind to four Dems...

Yes, that is the kind of rhetoric these mentally challenged people understand. And this is how Henderson says T-rump will do it...
1. There will be more racism: The Squad, Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, Pressley and Tlaib, scenario will continue, and any other racial bigotry he can come up with.
2. More Hispanic harassment: The border wall, Latinos being hassled for speaking Spanish in public, jailing families at the border.
3. More emphasis on Evangelicals: In 2020, he will do everything imaginable to get far-right white evangelicals to the polls.
4. More voter suppression: "The last thing Republicans need in 2020 is a heavy turnout in Democratic parts of swing states, and as odious as the GOP’s voter suppression tactics have been, they will only get worse in the months ahead.
5. More violence: A recent Arizona newspaper headline read, “Could the 2020 election turn violent?" The answer was yes, due to the Trump White House encouragement of white nationalists
Bizarre moments with Donald dufus...

Keep in mind, the above is a compendium of how Donald Trump operates, a most pathetic conclusion when he heads up the most powerful nation in the world. But The Washington Post says, "Trump digs his own political grave," in a piece that points out once again the nuances of an individual that many think has reached a level of mental madness. The article places T-rump in a "somewhat feeble quality"...
"He makes the bare-minimum statement on the latest gun massacre, ducks a World War II commemoration in Poland on the grounds that he has to monitor the hurricane (but then plays golf and misinforms the public about the hurricane’s path) and eggs Vice President Pence to stay at the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in Ireland, raising once more the grotesque self-dealing and corruption that permeates this administration."
And the democrats just remain on the sidelines holding their reactions while "he’s in the midst of blowing himself up."  That's okay for now, but the Dems had better get off their butts soon and make hay of the deterioration of this maniac, or they/we will be dealing with him for four more years.

Mitch McConnell in Amy McGrath's sights

PROGRESSIVE STREET...Where Liberals Walk

July 12, 2019: ‘Everything that’s wrong with Washington started with him,’ a headline from Raw Story refers to Mitch McConnell. But now he has a credible candidate challenging him in 2020. It is Amy McGrath, "a former Marine Lieutenant Colonel fighter pilot with a Masters from Johns Hopkins. A BS in political science from the U.S. Naval Academy. She’s 44. A Democrat. The mother of three and married to a life-long Republican."

RS reports...
"McConnell is not liked in Kentucky. His average approval rating is just 25%, and his unfavorable is 46.7%, according to Real Clear Politics."
Here's a tweet from McGrath...
"I’m running to replace Mitch McConnell in the U.S. Senate. Everything that’s wrong with Washington had to start somewhere—it started with him. With your help, we can defeat Mitch and defend democracy. Join us: (link: http://www.AmyMcGrath.com) AmyMcGrath.com"
McGrath lost a close election for Congress in 2018, by less than 10,000 votes, 51% to 47.8%. But "McConnell is not liked in Kentucky. His average approval rating is just 25%, and his unfavorable is 46.7%, according to Real Clear Politics." Amy McGrath wrote McConnell a letter at age 13, which he never answered, provoking the comment, “I’ve often wondered how many other people did Mitch McConnell never take the time to write back, or even think about.”

Robert Reich exposes the loathsome Mitch McConnell...

In a Politico piece, McConnell is called  “Cocaine Mitch,” “Nuclear Mitch” or the steward of the “legislative graveyard,” admitting,  he’s the “Grim Reaper” anyway, so he’s loving every minute of it. Mitch the misrule mechanic, thinks all this is funny, stonewalling anything that comes from Democrats, no matter how good or important the legislation is. The racist in this lowlife proclaimed, "my number one priority is making sure president Obama’s a one-term president." He didn't.

If Kentucky voters dislike Mitch McConnell as the above figures would indicate, an approval of only 25%, unfavorable 46.7%, and Kentucky voters continue to reelect the man, then I would place these poor souls in the same category as the clueless, double-digit Donald Trump supporters. Amy McGrath raised $2.5 million in the first 24 hours of her campaign eclipsing presidential contenders Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris. Want to be beat Mitch McConnell? Make a contribution to Amy McGrath here.

Joe Biden is running for President in 2020

Joe Biden announces for 2020
Joe Biden has finally thrown his hat in the ring after months of deliberation, and which will be his third attempt at the office. During his announcement he attacked white nationalism, particularly the Charlottesville , Virginia rally in August 2017, saying of Donald Trump...
"He said there were quote some very fine people on both sides. With those words, the President of the United States assigned a moral equivalence between those spreading hate and those with the courage to stand against it. And in that moment, I knew the threat to this nation was unlike any I had ever seen in my lifetime."
And Joe Biden had hit the nail on the head in describing Donald Trump's presidency.  Biden is the front runner right now, leading other candidates like Bernie Sanders, but, as a centrist, must contend with these powerful forces from the left, and the fact that Bernie came in a solid first in a recent New Hampshire poll. Here's what Trump had to say about Biden's entry into the race...
"Welcome to the race Sleepy Joe. I only hope you have the intelligence, long in doubt, to wage a successful primary campaign. It will be nasty - you will be dealing with people who truly have some very sick & demented ideas. But if you make it, I will see you at the Starting Gate!"
The words T-rump uses against Biden like doubtful intelligence, nasty and sick and demented are the perfect verbiage to describe a Donald Trump.

Bernie says don't impeach Trump-He's right

Bernie says the most important thing to him in the time left leading up to the 2020 election is to see that Donald Trump is not reelected. That would be the attitude of most of the U.S. population, minus the Trump hard core supporters, which was around 18% in 2018. I have been in contact with a few of these uninformed citizens recently and can say their less than rational mentality will never change. As I mentioned in another post today, much of the Trump base is completely disenchanted with the Oval Office lunatic and are looking hard at Bernie Sanders. The gist of Bernie's statement...
"At the end of the day, what is most important to me is to see that Donald Trump is not re-elected president, and I intend to do everything I can to make sure that doesn't happen."
He does want a thorough investigation by the House and would reconsider his position if anything damaging to Trump were to develop. Meanwhile, here's CNN Politics assessment of the right direction for Democrats...
1) Abandoning the Mueller report conclusions is unacceptable to the party's political base.
2) Impeachment will allow Trump to paint himself as a victim of overly partisan Democrats looking to run him out because they lost an election.
3) Senate Republicans will simply not abandon Trump en masse, ensuring that even if impeachment succeeds in the House, Trump will not be removed from office.
Bernie's position is, and I agree, that the left shouldn't fight a campaign of personalities, rather, emphasize the issues like healthcare, minimum wage, climate change, gun control and racism. A sensible public is not interested in revisiting the bizarre antics of a moron who has proven time after time that he is unfit to be president of the United States. And since impeachment is the epitome of Bernie's base, he must justify this position by convincing his people he can win in 2020. Early polls show him well out front in New Hampshire, but Joe Biden declaring tomorrow could change things.

Who is Pete Buttigieg?

Pete Buttigieg
Right now, he is a long shot to the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination but is turning a lot of heads with his issues. Even with low name recognition, Pete Buttigieg raised $7-million since January. Now that's right up there with the leadin' contendas, if he can get an act together soon, things could improve. He is currently the mayor of South Bend, Indiana. 37, gay, and literally has come from nowhere. Early polls have him in 7th position of declared candidates.

Buttigieg has raised enough money to qualify him for the summer Democratic debates, which requires contributions from at least 65,000 donors to make it to the debate stage. His issues include, "Medicare for all who want it, believes in "addressing or reversing harm and inequities" through policy, supports the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and a path to citizenship, openly pro-choice, strong gun control advocate, and more in the above article.

He's a Progressive's kind of person. But while sitting mayors haven't had much luck in the past, Buttigieg plans to change that.

Arizona will turn Blue soon

A Blue Arizona finally
I live in Arizona and, due to a large amount of rainfall and the warmer days coming sooner, this state is beautiful! But it's not Blue yet, still Red with a gang of radical conservatives hell-bent on ruining the state. We have some of the loosest gun laws in the country, our educational system ranks 47th in the U.S., with teacher pay a confusing number 50th to 28th nationwide. But, the Hill reports that, "Arizona Democrats see a path to the White House that runs through the Valley of the Sun."

That avenue cited is a result of a doubling population since 1990, that in the past was initiated by retirees who voted Republican. Much of the growth is still the fantastic weather, but now the younger generation has found the Valley of the Sun. They are looking for good jobs and low housing costs — while at the same time holding on to their progressive beliefs. One of the significant results of this is the fact that Krysten Sinema, a woman and Democrat, was elected to the U.S. Senate.

Half of our imports, 537,000 people total, came from California carrying that state's Progressivism in their luggage. I have experienced a local group reading my blog who agree with my posts and express their own Progressive views. And there are the Hispanic voters who have let both parties down repeatedly in the past, but with a younger age group the time just might be right in 2020. When you combine these three groups, the left could make its voice heard in the near future, turning Arizona into the Blue state it should be.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for gun control

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
I was a Bernie Sanders supporter in 2016, despite the fact he never did come out strong for gun control. He recently asked supporters to tell him what we were concerned about and I did...gun control. Now I do not expect to hear from Bernie personally, just want a firm indication that he will support the issue in the White House. This is what he said recently on Twitter...
"This is what real action to stop gun violence looks like. We must follow New Zealand's lead, take on the NRA and ban the sale and distribution of assault weapons in the United States."
This is a great start but there is much more to be done than banning assault weapons; like the gun show loophole and universal background checks to name a couple. The Bern feels that this issue should be settled in the states. I don't. My thought is that hundreds, maybe thousands would die before all states got around to passing gun control legislation, although some states have made this move.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is solidly behind federal gun control legislation and it would be nice if she was age 35 and able to run for president. It seems that most of the enthusiasm and good ideas are coming from the young ones.  Ocasio-Cortez is 29; maybe we should change the law for electing presidents.

World wants Joe Biden-Does USA?

Joe Biden 2020
Here's the Politico headline: "World leaders tell Biden: We need you." Although they probably favor him from the Obama administration, I read into their enthusiasm that they are also fed up with Donald Trump and want a change. Apparently Biden’s 2020 intentions were the talk of the recent Munich Security Conference; world leaders were asking him, “Are you going to run?” Many of the conference conversations included the phrase "The world needs you." Wow! Does that mean their insight is, "perhaps," more objective than the U.S. GOP Congress in the assessment of T-rump's total incompetence. We'll see what it does for Joe Biden's polls.

Bernie Sanders or Beto O'Rourke

This is a decision that progressives must face in the near future: Will it be the Bern or newbie Beto? In health care O'Rourke supports the Medicare for America plan, Sanders the Single-payer Medicare-for-all America. Just recently there were articles exclaiming that Bernie Sanders would not be able to get rid of insurance companies, a part of the latter plan. The two are very similar on other Progressive issues and while we know exactly what Bernie stands for, Beto will have to better qualify some of his policies. 2020 will be a race for the ages, at least for Democrats. They know they must beat Trump, but what left candidate is best qualified to do it?

Constitutional Scholar worries about Trump corruptness

Harvard Law School professor Laurence Tribe thinks "Donald Trump could go to extreme lengths to hold onto power after 2020." He may even "fabricate another national emergency," he warns. Tribe is a constitutional law scholar at Harvard Law School and sees the Oval Office lunatic as “effectively corrupt.” One must remember that Donald T-rump has his finger on the button and based on his erratic behavior, God knows what we can expect.
